From the President’s Desk
Dear Friends,

I am delighted to connect with you through the September edition of the IAPC Newsletter. Guided by the aims and objectives of the IAPC, our training programs and awareness activities continue to gain momentum across the country. The month ahead promises to be both exciting and eventful. We look forward to the Foundation Course in Essentials of Palliative Care (FCEPC) Online Examinations, scheduled across 52 centres with 262 candidates, a clear testimony to the growing interest and commitment to palliative care education. The preparations for the Final Examination for the IAPC’s Gold Medal for Nurses are underway. Additionally, NPPC training programs are being held in different states.
To commemorate the World Hospice and Palliative Care Day (11th October 2025), we are organizing a series of webinars and creative competitions to engage professionals and volunteers, and to strengthen the visibility of palliative care. I warmly invite you and look forward to your participation. Further details regarding webinars and competitions are available in the Announcements/Messages section of the IAPC’s Newsletter.
I am delighted to share that our task force of expert professionals has begun work on developing Clinical Practice Guidelines under the leadership of Dr. Raghu Thota, Secretary, IAPC, and Dr. Nishkarsh Gupta, Regional Representative, North Region.
In the field of postgraduate education, the IAPC has made significant strides over the past three years with the popular Monday Morning Lecture Series. This year marks another milestone as we prepare to host the first-ever PG Assembly, thanks to the vision and dedication of Academy of Palliative Medicine (APM) team.
An important priority for the IAPC is to strengthen its presence nationwide through the establishment of State Chapters. The SOPs and bylaws are available to guide this process. I urge our regional representatives and professionals to take the lead in registering their State Chapters and in organizing state-level CMEs/workshops to raise awareness and promote membership. Becoming an IAPC member offers several benefits, and I encourage you to join. Please follow this link to complete your membership registration.
As we prepare for World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, let us all work together to raise awareness, build stronger collaborations, and reinforce our collective commitment to compassionate care.
Before summarizing this message, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you to complete your registration for the Annual International Conference of the Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPCON 2026).
With best wishes for a meaningful and impactful WHPCD,
Dr. Geeta Joshi
President, Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC)
