North Zone: World Hospice & Palliative Care Day Celebration at

AIIMS, Bathinda, Punjab

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bathinda, celebrated the World Hospice and Palliative Care Day with great enthusiasm. The event emphasized the importance of palliative care, symptom management, meditation, yoga and nutrition alongside disease directed therapy to the cancer patients. The events were organized by a multi-disciplinary team with representation from Anaesthesiology, Surgery and surgical oncology.

The Dean and Additional MS Prof. (Dr.) Satish Gupta addressed the gathering. Cancer survivors shared their experiences and highlighted how adopting a positive attitude helped them in their journey with cancer.

The students of AIIMS Bathinda had organized a meditation session which was enjoyed by everyone present at the celebrations.

The event provided ample opportunity for everyone to share their thoughts, concerns and stories and made everyone realize that palliative care was ‘Everyone’s right and everyone’s responsibility’.

The celebrations culminated with distribution of gifts.
