West Zone: World Hospice & Palliative Care Day Celebration at
PallEx Healthcare Solution, Pune, Maharashtra
The World Hospice and Palliative Care Day celebrations at PallEx Healthcare Solution, Pune, were subdued this year due to the ongoing pandemic.
The celebrations began with us launching a week-long media campaign with one of Pune’s prominent radio stations, Radio City FM 91.1. A pre-recorded byte by Dr. Prince John, Medical Director, Pallex Healthcare, highlighting the need for palliative care was broadcasted on Radio City 91.1 all through the week. The byte also included details of a dedicated helpline number for people to call on for further details about palliative care.
On 9th October, Dr. Prince John was interviewed on Radio City 91.1 and provided him a platform to advocate for palliative care and to highlight its need and importance. We also organized a free medical camp for patients with chronic illness on 9th October, which was well received by both the medical community and the general community.
The entire campaign was sponsored by the Mumbai based Somatico Pharmacal Co.
The wards at our center were decorated with a string of flowers and with the display of several attractive posters to highlight the need for palliative care.
Our week long celebrations culminated with a cake cutting and a snacks party with all our patients.
