Mr Mujeeb Kuttamassery is the recipient of the ‘Aspiring Young Leader in Palliative Care’ Award by the NAPCIAM

Mr Mujeeb Kuttamassery, Chairman, Life Care Foundation, and a Central Council Member (South Zone), IAPC, has been named as the recipient of the ‘Aspiring Young Leader in Palliative Care’ award, by the National Association of Palliative Care for AYUSH & Integrative Medicine (NAPCIAM).

Mr Kuttamassery will receive this award on 15th October, 2022, at Amritsar, Punjab, during the NAPCAIM’s 1st International Conference on the same date this year.

This award is being presented to Mr Kuttamassery in recognition of his outstanding contributions to palliative care since 2010, especially during the 2018 Kerala floods in which he along with his team selflessly organised emergency palliative home care services to palliative care patients. The award also recognises his other innovative projects which focus on patient care.

On being named as the recipient of the award he shares, “Not our merits, but on his grace”

KGMU, Lucknow, in association with Cipla Foundation, inaugurates free home care services in Lucknow from 10th July, 2022

The Cancer Palliative Care Unit in the Department of Radiation Oncology, King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, and the Cipla Foundation, have jointly begun offering free palliative Home Care services for their patients from Sunday, 10th July, 2022, under the supervision of Dr Rajendra Kumar, Professor and Chief, ICPCI Project, and Dr Rashmi Gupta, Project Manager, ICPCI.

Those patients who are registered with the Cancer Palliative Care Unit at KGMU, Lucknow, and are located within a 35 kms radius from the hospital will be eligible to avail this free service (symptomatic care and support) which also includes free medication.

The cancer palliative care unit at KGMU Lucknow, was established in 2016, and served patients through their Outpatient and their 10 bedded Inpatient palliative care ward. The team has now expanded to providing free home care services for their very sick and poor patients who are unable to come for supportive treatment.

‘Sri Satya Sai Palliative Care Centre’ inaugurated at Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, on 12th July, 2022

A new palliative care center, Sri Satya Sai Palliative Care Centre, was inaugurated by the Collector, Sri Sathya Sai District, Andhra Pradesh (AP), on Tuesday, 12th July, 2022, at Puttaparthi, AP. The center is being set up by the Pain Relief and Palliative Care Society (PRPCS), Hyderabad, in collaboration with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, United Care Development Services (UCDS), and the Sri Satya Sai Central Trust.

The newly inaugurated palliative care center will provide Out-patient services, In-patient services (8-10 beds) and Home care services for palliative patients in and around the Sri Sathya Sai district. All of these services will be provided free of charge to patients.

The Collector, Sri Sathya Sai District, has instructed the District Medical Officials to get actively involved in the functioning of the Center so as to integrate palliative care services offered by the Center into the District’s Health Care Delivery system. All cadres of staff, right from the ASHA workers to the PHC doctors and nurses have been sensitised to identify patients requiring palliative care and for appropriate referral to the program.

Sneh Sawali Care Center, Aurangabad, successfully completes 4 years of service delivery, on 15th July, 2022

We are happy to share that Sneh Sawali Care Center, the first palliative care unit in Aurangabad, Marathwada region, completed 4 years of successfully delivering free palliative care services on Friday, 15th July, 2022.

The Non profit organisation offers free palliative care services to anyone who is in need of such services. The center is currently providing holistic care to 45 residential patients.

The team celebrated this milestone by distributing fruits to all inmates. They are also thrilled to share that the center has recently received a plot by donation, and that plans are being designed to establish a state-of-the-art facility in the near future to cater to all aspects of palliative care.

Life Care Foundation’s ‘Institute of Palliative Care Training and Research’, inaugurated on 26th June, 2022

The Life Care Foundation (LCF) inaugurated their academic arm, the Institute of Palliative Care Training & Research, in Aluva, on Sunday, 26th June, 2022. ‘Compassion with Competence’ is said to be the learning mantra of the Institute.

The institute was inaugurated virtually by Padmashree Dr. M R Rajagopal, Founder and Chairman, Pallium India and the Chief Adviser of the Life Care Foundation.

A one day palliative care orientation program was organised to commemorate the day. Mr Rafeeq Chokli, Businessman and Cine Artist, inaugurated this one-day orientation program which was organised at AELI Hill Camp Centre, Keezhmad.

Over 60 delegates from different parts of the district participated in this session which was led by Dr K. Radhakrishna Menon (National Vice President, National Association of Palliative Care for AYUSH and Integrative Medicine) and Dr Jose Pulimoottil (Vice President, State Chapter).

The orientation program was coordinated by Mr. Mujeeb Kuttamassery (Chairman, Life Care Foundation), and his team (Raghunathan Nair, Usman VA, KM Abdul Samad, Ibrahim Kutty, Bindu Mahesh, Faisal Khalid, Nuhman and Abdul Sattar).
