Job Description: The Medical Social Worker will provide psychosocial, practical, family and community-based support to children with serious illnesses and their families. The role involves working closely with the multidisciplinary palliative care team, supporting families through different stages of illness, facilitating access to social and financial resources, and strengthening links with community-based services. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, proactive and comfortable working with children and families facing complex illness, disability, loss and end-of-life care.
Additional Information:
Key responsibilities – Psychosocial Support, Family Support & Counselling, Resource Linkage, Care Coordination, Community Outreach, Advocacy, Bereavement Support, Community Awareness.
Desirable experience – Knowledge of community mapping, participatory planning and behavioural change communication is desirable.
- Experience in awareness, advocacy or community mobilisation initiatives.
- Excellent communication, counselling, documentation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Willingness and emotional readiness to work in sensitive settings involving serious illness, disability, bereavement and end-of-life care. Proficiency in Kannada.
