Strengthening nursing faculty for better palliative care education

The Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC) invites nursing faculty to participate in its Certificate Course in Palliative Care for Nursing Faculty. The course is designed to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and confidence of nursing faculty to teach palliative care effectively to undergraduate nursing students and support the integration of palliative care into nursing education.

Who is this course for?

The course is intended for nursing faculty involved in undergraduate nursing education, particularly those who teach or support the palliative care component of the nursing curriculum.

Course format

The course will be conducted through interactive online sessions.

Duration: 10 days

Daily duration: 2 hours

Sessions: 2 sessions per day

Total duration: 20 hours

Platform: Online

The sessions will combine interactive teaching, case discussions, practical learning, and opportunities for participant engagement.

What will the course cover?

The course provides an overview of essential areas of palliative care relevant to nursing education, including:

  • Principles and concepts of palliative care
  • Communication in palliative care
  • Pain and symptom management
  • Palliative nursing care
  • Common nursing procedures in palliative care
  • Care during the terminal phase
  • Ethical aspects and optimisation of care

The emphasis will be on developing knowledge and practical confidence that participants can apply in their teaching and clinical practice.

Assessment and certification

  • Participants will complete assessments during and at the end of the course.
  • Participants who meet the required assessment criteria will receive the certificate.
  • The certificate will care 3 credit points of Indian Nursing Council.
