Congratulations CanSupport for completing a stellar 25 years of selfless services for advanced cancer patients.
CanSupport is a charitable society and is one of India’s leading home based palliative care service provider. Can support was established in 1996 by Ms Harmala Gupta, a cancer survivor. All of CanSupport’s services are free of charge and their palliative care teams care for 2600 cancer patients and their families at any given time through their home care program, their out-patient clinics, day care centers and training programs. Congratulations, Dr Ravi Kannan!
We are ecstatic to announce that Dr Ravi Kannan, received his Padma Shri Award, in the category of Medicine, from our Honourable President of India, Shri Ramnath Kovind, on 8th November, 2021. Dr Kannan was conferred the award on 26th January, 2020.
Dr Kannan is not only a renowned Oncology Surgeon from Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Center, Silchar, Assam, but a simple human being who also ensures the integration of palliative care at his center. Dr Kannan and his team have treated over 70,000 cancer patients from the Barak valley, free of cost, which includes free accommodation, food and employment. His team is also involved with spreading awareness about cancer within the valley.
On this momentous occasion, The President of India, had also tweeted that “Dr Kannan and his team offer cancer care to impoverished communities of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura” along with a picture of Dr Kannan receiving the award.

Congratulations on scaling new heights, Dr Priti!
We are pleased to announce that our very own Dr Priti Sanghavi, has been appointed as the Deputy Director of the Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute (GCRI), Ahmedabad.
On this occasion, Dr Priti shared “I want to thank GOD for giving me the opportunity to serve the institute and contribute towards its growth. Despite India’s increased palliative care services, services still remain concentrated in urban areas. My new role as Deputy Director of GCRI, will allow me to educate doctors, administrators and other policy makers about the dire need of provisioning palliative care services to one and all. I also plan to increase the community’s awareness about palliative care, actively implement the NPPC, collaborate with other regional cancer centers for the smooth provisioning of Palliative care and further the agenda of IAPC”.
GCRI, an academic institution, is a comprehensive State Cancer Center and also one of the country’s largest cancer care center with modern facilities for diagnosis and treatment. The Center is jointly managed by the State, the Central Government and the Gujarat Cancer Society.

Wish Foundation confers the ‘Health Service Award’ to Mr Mujeeb Kuttamassery
Mr Mujeeb Kuttamassery, our Central Council Member (South Zone) and the Chairman of Life Care Foundation, received the Wish Foundation’s Award for outstanding contribution to the ‘Health Service’. MLA Anwar Sadath, presented the award to Mr Mujeeb Kuttamassery on 14th November, 2021, at the Priyadarshini Town Hall, Aluva, Kerala.
Wish Foundation, headquartered in Ernakulam, is a voluntary service Trust that works towards bringing relief to suffering patients and their families during the pandemic while also working towards establishing justice, fairness and human values in the most influential cyber space.
Mr Mujeeb received the award as a recognition of his unparalleled services in the field of health care especially towards palliative care during the period of the covid pandemic.
