5^th International Seminar of the EAPC’s Reference Group on Public Health and Palliative Care

The next international research seminar of the EAPC’s Reference Group (RG) on Public Health and Palliative Care will be held in the vibrant city of Cologne, Germany, from 10^th to 11^th March 2027. Registration is now open, with early-bird registration available until 31^st January 2027.

The organisers warmly invite delegates from across the world to participate in this event. According to the organisers, “This year’s seminar is organised by the Department of Palliative Medicine at the University Hospital of Cologne and the EAPC’s RG on Public Health and Palliative Care, and will once again focus on exploring the significant intersection between public health and palliative care, with a particular emphasis on fostering community, connection and collective action.”

Study Tour to Explore Palliative Care Services in Hungary and Romania

Healthcare professionals with an interest in palliative care are invited to participate in the Palliative Care in Hungary and Romania study tour, organised by Jon Baines Tours and led by Consultant in Psychosocial Palliative Care, David Oliviere.

The organisers describe the programme as “an 11-day educational tour” that offers participants “a unique opportunity to explore the development, organisation and delivery of palliative care services in Hungary and Romania while experiencing the rich cultural heritage of both countries.”

The programme includes visits to leading palliative care centres and academic institutions, including Budapest Hospice House, the University of Pécs Medical School, Hospice Casa Speranței in Brașov, the rural palliative care team in Făgăraș, and Bucharest Hope Hospice. Participants will interact with clinicians, educators and pioneers of palliative care in the region to gain insights into service models, education, community-based care and the evolution of palliative care in two neighbouring countries with distinct healthcare systems and cultural traditions.

In addition to the professional programme, the itinerary includes visits to Budapest, Pécs, Timișoara, Brașov and Bucharest, offering participants an opportunity to experience the history, architecture and landscapes of Hungary and Romania.

Call for Themed Session Proposals for the 21^st EAPC World Congress 2027

The European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC) has invited proposals for Themed Sessions for the 21^st EAPC World Congress in Palliative Care, to be held in Glasgow, United Kingdom, from 20^th to 22^nd May 2027. The congress will be held under the theme, “Humanising the Future: New Generations, New Technologies, Enduring Values.”

According to the organisers, the call seeks proposals that explore the evolving landscape of palliative care, where emerging technologies, new generations of practitioners and enduring human values come together while keeping humanity at the heart of innovation in palliative care. Themed Sessions are intended to stimulate discussion, showcase collaborative initiatives and address emerging issues of relevance to the international palliative care community.

Healthcare professionals, researchers and multidisciplinary teams are encouraged to contribute innovative ideas and help shape the scientific programme of the congress.
