Registrations open for the 6th Maruzza International Congress on Paediatric Palliative Care, Rome, 16th – 18th October, 2024

Registrations are invited for the 6th Maruzza International Congress on Paediatric Palliative Care, scheduled to be held at the Auditorium Antonianum, Rome, between Wednesday, 16th October, 2024, and Friday, 18th October, 2024.

The in-person conference is themed, ‘Roots and Horizons’ as it aims to foresee the possible developments and future perspectives of Pediatric Palliative Care at a global level, by learning from yesterday, living for today and shaping the future.

The Congress is therefore designed to act as a vehicle for reflection and in-depth analysis and share knowledge and information that encompasses the past, the present and the future by proposing evidence-based solutions, imagining innovative care models and contributing to the implementation of increasingly sophisticated apparatus and technologies capable of responding to the increasingly complex needs.

Please note that the last date to submit abstracts is Sunday, 2nd June, 2024. Registered delegates below the age of 35 are also eligible to apply for the Awards for Excellence in Paediatric Palliative Care, which will be presented during the opening ceremony.

Registrations are invited for the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine’s (AAHPM) webinar on ‘Promoting Respectful and Inclusive Serious Illness Care for the LGBTQI+ Community’, scheduled for Friday, 14th June, 2024, between 12:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. (IST).

The free to attend webinar for AAHPM’s members will be presented by Cathy Berkmen, Gary Stein and Noelle Marie Javier. Hospice Medical Directors, HPM Physicians, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists are encouraged to register for the webinar.

The webinar aims to describe the extent and type of disrespectful, inappropriate, and abusive practices faced by seriously ill lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) individuals and their partners when receiving care; describe recommendations to address disparities in care, including staff training, institutional practice and policy remedies, and advocacy for changes in public policy; and describe the multidimensional framework and best practices for providing inclusive and affirming healthcare to seriously ill persons who identify as LGBTQ+.

Book your slot to participate in the International Psycho-Oncology Society’s (IPOS) webinar ‘Reshaping tomorrow: The status and future of global psychosocial oncology within palliative care’, on Wednesday, 19th June, 2024, between 7:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. (IST).

The webinar will be presented by stalwarts Dr M R Rajagopal (Chairman Emeritus, Pallium India), Dr Gary Rodin (Head, Department of Supportive Care, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre) and Dr Harvey Max Chochinov (Professor, Psychiatry, University of Manitoba). During the unique roundtable discussion, the three leading experts on psychosocial oncology within palliative care will reflect on the global status of palliative care, including how far the field has come and future opportunities for both investigators and clinicians worldwide. They will also go on to engage in meaningful dialogue around potential solutions for rectifying global challenges.

Registrations are invited for the ‘Singapore Palliative Care Quality Improvement Conference’(SPCQIC) scheduled to be held on Thursday, 29th August, 2024, and Friday, 30th August, 2024, at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Singapore.

The conference is themed, ‘Transforming Palliative Care Through QI Lenses’, as it aims to offer invaluable learning, networking, and collaboration opportunities to transform palliative care through the lens of Quality Improvement (QI). Conference delegates will have the opportunity to explore strategies that enhance care at all levels: population, provider, and patient. Additionally, delegates will learn to measure outcomes, implement benchmarks, and translate data into clinical improvements.

Registrations invited for the ‘8th Public Health Palliative Care International Conference’, Bern, Switzerland, 22nd – 25th October, 2024

Registrations are invited for the ‘8th Public Health Palliative Care International Conference’, scheduled to be held at Bern, Switzerland, between Tuesday, 22nd October, 2024, and Friday, 25th, October, 2024.

The conference aims to create a unique opportunity to bring together people from various professional backgrounds from across the globe, in person or virtually, to share, learn and – build bridges. The conference is therefore themed, ‘Building Bridges between Science and People’.

The conference organisers believe that many competencies are needed to improve the currently inequitable experience of dying, caregiving, death and grief in our societies. To cater to these various needs the scientific conference integrates three thematic threads. While the main focus of the conference would be on projects in research and education from around the world, the second thread would focus on a program for the exchange of experiences from compassionate cities in German-speaking countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). The third thread is designed to focus on the development of compassionate cities within Switzerland inspired by international projects (these sessions will be translated French/ German).
