Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, receives approval from the NMC to offer MD in Palliative Medicine

Kerala is proud to add yet another feather to it’s cap as the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi, has been approved by the National Medical Council (NMC) to offer MD in Palliative Medicine (2 seats). 

The institute will be the first in Kerala to offer a Post Graduate course in Palliative Medicine. The sanction couldn’t have come at a more opportune time as the institute will be able to intake 2 post graduates from this very academic year since the NEET counselling for this year is yet to take place. 

On achieving this milestone, a very elated Dr Shoba Nair, Professor and Head of the Department, AIMS, Kochi, said, “The much awaited post graduate training  in Palliative Medicine will go a long way towards improving the management of patients and their families who are suffering with chronic diseases. We are excited and assure the health care community that we will provide world class training in Pain management and Palliative Medicine for our country’s young physicians”.
