From the President’s Desk

Dear Friends,

Greetings for New Year 2022!

Dr. Sushma Bhatnagar

As I sit down to pen my thoughts, I shudder thinking of the year each of us has overcome. Several of us lost our near and dear ones due to the unrelenting COVID-19 pandemic, while every single one of us had to face unimaginable challenges and struggles throughout the year. Yet, we were resilient and moved forward. I sincerely hope and wish that this year will bring with it, peace, happiness and cheerfulness amongst us all.

I would also like to inform you all that elections for the various posts of office bearers of IAPC is scheduled to be held virtually between 9 a.m. on Friday, 21st January, 2022, and 9 p.m. on Sunday, 23rd January, 2022. Do keep in mind that you will have to register in advance and that registration is mandatory to participate in virtual elections. Please continue reading this newsletter for further details about the elections and to know how you can register and cast your vote in the upcoming elections. I request everyone to utilize this unique opportunity to elect a leader of your choice.

It is with immense joy I share that IAPC will be collaborating with the Shankar Mahadevan Academy Nirvana, to provide a series of virtual evenings of harmonies, ‘Singing for the Stars’, for palliative care patients and their caregivers from across the country, each of whom is a star in themselves. This musical collaboration is intended to help patients and their caregivers unwind and relax while also advocating for palliative care. The inaugural session will be delivered by Mr. Kartik Raman, the famous Singer, Composer and Educator and is scheduled for 4th January, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. Please register for the event by clicking here.

We have been extremely busy on the Academic front. The next batch of the IAPC’s virtual Certificate Course in Essentials of Palliative Care (CCEPC) is all set to commence on 8th January, 2022. Please register along with your colleagues for the course. Do click here to know more about how you can register for the course.

It is gratifying to know that the IAPC Lecture Series 3 will conclude this month. Series 4 will begin in February after a short 2 week break. I invite and request everyone to attend, participate and enrich the sessions with a rich post-lecture discussion. I am certain that your presence during the lectures motivates and encourages our speakers to deliver their best.

I am also happy to announce that IAPC Academy will very soon begin offering courses for pharmacists and physiotherapists. The pharmacy course will help your pharmacists to learn and upscale their knowledge in the correct way to handle opioids.

Last but not the least, IAPCON 2022 is fast approaching. I request you to visit the conference website to register for a rich academic feast and make the conference a grand success. Dr Anjum Khan, organizing secretary, IAPCON 2022, and her team are working very hard to deliver to us an innovative and a world class conference.

I once again wish you all a very Happy New Year, 2022.

Take care and stay safe.

Warm Regards,

Dr. Sushma Bhatnagar
