Applications invited for the ‘IAPC’s Gold Medal for Nurses 2026’
The Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC) is delighted to invite applications for the IAPC’s Gold Medal for Nurses 2026!
This award aims to encourage excellence in nursing within palliative care.
The winner of the ‘IAPC’s Gold Medal for Nurses 2026’ will be presented with a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/- (Twenty-five thousand only), a citation, and a medal, during IAPCON 2027, scheduled to be held at Convention Complex, SOA University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha between Friday, 19th to Sunday, 21st February 2027.
Eligibility Criteria to participate in the IAPC’s Gold Medal for Nurses 2026
- Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree [BSc] in Nursing or a Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM).
- The Degree / Diploma must have been earned no earlier than 2015. Date printed in the degree/diploma certificate will be considered for determining this.
- Applicants must have a valid Nursing Registration with the Nurses Council of India or State Nursing Council in India.
- Only Indian national nurses working in India are eligible to register and participate in the IAPC’s Gold Medal for Nurses 2026

Selection process for the IAPC’s Gold Medal for Nurses 2026
The selection process consists of two steps:
- Step 1 will be an open book online screening examination for all interested candidates. Candidates can participate in this virtual screening process from anywhere.
- Step 2 will be applicable only for the top 10 rank holders [First five -initial invitee & next five -wait listed] from the Step 1 online screening process. This will be an in-person examination conducted at the Shree Krishna Hospital, Bhaikaka University, Karamsad, Anand, Gujarat.
Details about Step 1: Online Screening Examination
- Registration and Examination:
- Interested candidates must register to participate in the Step 1 online examination. Registration will be closed at 5 p.m. on Friday, 28th August 2026.
- Once registered, candidates can participate in the online examination starting from Saturday, 1st August 2026.
- Question paper link to participate in the online Step 1 examination will be sent to all registered candidates separately by mail.
- Please note that the access to participate in the examination will close at 5 p.m. on Monday, 31st August 2026.
- Examination Format: 100 MCQs, with 60% questions from nursing topics and 40% questions from palliative care topics.
- Examination Pace: Candidates can complete the examination at their own pace before 5 p.m. on Monday, 31st August 2026.
- Review and edit of submissions: Candidates will have the option to review and edit responses until they submit their responses. Please note that once submitted, responses cannot be edited. In case of multiple submissions, only first submission will be considered.
- Submission Deadline: 5 p.m. on Monday, 31st August 2026.
- Result Publication: Results will be announced on the IAPC’s website on 15th September 2026.
Tie breaker rules for step 1 examination:
In case of scores being tied the following shall be rules to resolve the tie and award rank. The rules will be applied sequentially to end the tie
- Participant who had submitted the form for step 1 earliest will be awarded higher rank
- Participant who had registered the earliest for step 1 will be awarded higher rank
- Participant who has completed the BSc degree or GNM diploma earliest will be awarded higher rank
- Participant who is older will be awarded higher rank
Details about Step 2: In-person Examination
- The top 5 rank holders from the Step 1 online screening process will be invited to participate in the in-person Step 2 Examination for the IAPC’s Gold Medal for Nurses 2026. 6th to 10th rank holders will be put on waiting list and invited sequentially if any one among the first five rank holders decline or dropout.
- Examination Date: Monday, 23rd November 2026.
- Examination Venue: Shree Krishna Hospital, Bhaikaka University, Karamsad, Anand, Gujarat
- Examination Format:
- Theory examination
- OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination)
- Viva-Voce
- Provisions for Invited Candidates:
- II AC train fare (Round-trip) to the examination centre, Anand, Gujarat (Reimbursement will be provided only upon submission of original bills).
- Local commute expenses, if any (Reimbursement will be provided only upon submission of original bills).
- Accommodation for two nights (Sunday, 21st November and Monday, 22nd November 2026) at a hotel in Anand/Karamsad on twin sharing basis. Additional nights are chargeable and subject to availability.
- 3 Meals per day on Sunday, 21st November and Monday, 22nd November 2026.
- Preparations for Step 2 In-person Examination:
- Reference books will be couriered/ soft copy shared to the top 10 rank holders from the Step 1 online screening process.
- The examination will be mostly based on the books provided.
