The Department of Palliative Medicine celebrated the “World Hospice and Palliative Care Day 2023” on 11th Oct 2023 at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. The program was graced by Dr D S Rana, Dr Ajay Swaroop, Dr S P Byotra, Dr A K Bhalla and Dr Jayashree Sood. Dr Gowri Nambiar Sengupta, Deputy Director General Health and Family Welfare was the Guest of Honour.
Dr Bimla Sharma, Head of Department, Palliative Medicine welcomed everyone to the event. The program was attended by more than 100 delegates with representation from hospital trustees and management, administration, consultants from different specialties, postgraduate medical students, nursing officers, volunteers and social workers. The scientific program had lectures and panel discussions which were delivered by National and International faculties.
This was followed by Prize distribution for the winners who participated in various competitions organized by the department. The students from Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences, RML Hospital presented a skit on the theme Awareness of Palliative Care in the community.
