Webinar: Humanising Healthcare through Storytelling – Stories as a tool for transformation
The IAPC in collaboration with Pallium India, conducted a webinar on ‘Humanising Healthcare through Storytelling – Stories as a tool for transformation’ on Wednesday, 23rd March, 2022, between 7 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.
The webinar was delivered by a rich panel represented by Ms Chinthana Gopinath (Care provider and Care receiver), Ms Joan Marston (Founder, Sunflower Children’s Hospice and Global Ambassador, International Children’s Palliative Care Network), Dr Vidya Viswanath (Palliative Care Physician, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Center), and Dr Yogesh Jain (Public Health Physician and Founder, Jan Swasthya Sahyog), each of who shared with us their stories to highlight the power of human stories in transforming quality care provision in different settings.
The webinar was ably moderated by Dr Frank Brennan (Palliative Care Physician, Australia) and Ms Smriti Rana (Head, Strategic Programs and Partnerships Division, Pallium India).
The webinar created an opportunity for several participants to share their stories with the panelists and the larger palliative care community.
The organizers also invited the audience to share their own stories which they had experienced either as a care provider or a care recipient, which impacted one’s own practice and philosophy.
The organizers will be creating a repository of palliative care stories to demonstrate that, ultimately, it is our stories that make us human, and listening to the stories behind the statistics is what makes care truly compassionate!
