The Palliative Care team at Christian Medical College, Vellore is enriched by three exceptional nurses; Ms Anitha Gladys K, Ms Shakila Murali and Ms Thangarathi Celine.
These three nurses make every effort to connect with the suffering patients and their families to offer holistic care. Their efforts to improve their patients’ Quality of Life in every possible way is commendable.
The presence of smelly wounds, discharges or maggots has not deterred their dedication to care for their patients’. They are the go-to for many patients and their caregivers for receiving psychological and spiritual support. They allow for patients to continue receiving care at home by empowering the caregivers.
These three nurses can be called as great teachers, excellent role-models and active patient advocates.
They are the palliative care champions at the center.
