Golden Butterflies Children’s Palliative Care Foundation organized a Walkathon in observance of World Hospice & Palliative Care Day 2023 with the theme “Compassionate Communities – Together for Palliative Care” on October 15, 2023.

The event witnessed an enthusiastic participation of over 60 individuals, including students from Ethiraj Arts & Science College and Stella Maris College, IT sector professionals, members of the Lions Club – Guindy, Rotary Club, and the general public. Participants completed a walkathon covering a distance of over 3 kilometers, commencing at Olcott Memorial Matriculation Higher Secondary School and concluding at Elliots Beach, Chennai.

Dr. V. Raghunathan, the Director of Techno-Commercial Affairs at Dr. MGR University & Advanced Research Institute, graced the event as the Chief Guest. A special address from Dr. Revathy Raj, a Pediatric Hematologist at Apollo Hospitals also highlighted the occasion. Both speakers emphasized the significance of Palliative care and the provision of quality-of-life care to children and their families dealing with long-term illnesses.

The event not only successfully raised awareness but also fostered a spirit of compassion within the community. The foundation received invaluable support from the Commissioner of Police and the local team, which greatly contributed to the event’s success.
