International Nurses Day: Celebrating our Palliative Care Nurses

Ms Priyanka Patiyal Sood is a Nursing Officer in the Radiation Oncology IPD, at AIIMS Rishikesh.
Ms Sood was AIIMS Rishikesh’s first nursing officer to attend the IAPC’s ‘Certificate Course in Essentials of Palliative Care’ in November 2018, to thereafter become the institution’s first Palliative Care Nurse.
She then went on to specialize in wound care. Post this she also attended the CTC2 Program for Palliative Care Training organized by AIIMS, Delhi, in collaboration with the Lien Collaborative for Palliative Care.
Ms Sood is now invited as faculty to teach Nurses about Palliative Care and Wound Care. She has also presented in the 3rd Asian Wound Care Association’s Conference as a Guest Faculty.
Ms Sood’s empathetic attitude towards her patients’ and their families is commendable and she always follows a positive approach to resolve the physical and psycho-social issues of her patients’ and their caregivers.
