Karunashraya lays the foundation stone for the Bagchi-Karunashraya Palliative Care Center in Odisha
Karunashraya surpasses another major milestone and created history on 12th July, 2021, as Shri Naveen Patnaik, Honb’le Chief Minister of Odisha, laid the foundation stone for their upcoming Bagchi-Karunashraya Palliative Care Center at Info Valley in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.
The palliative care center is envisioned to offer home care services along with a state of the art 110 bed In-patient center to care for advanced stage cancer patients, at no cost to patients and their families. The center also plans to train tribal girls as Health Assistants. Over the next five years, it will also train over over 20,000 people covering doctors, nurses, counsellors, Asha Didis and volunteers. The Bagchi-Karunashraya Palliative Care Center will resonate the same mandate as of its parent body, Karunashraya-Bangalore, to alleviate pain and sufferings of terminally ill patients by providing them the best possible quality of life.
The project took wings due to the magnanimous generosity of Mr. Subroto Bagchi’s and Mrs. Susmita Bagchi’s 130 crore rupees donation towards facilitating access to quality palliative care for those in need of such services.
The Bagchi-Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Center is the other project that will be supported by the Bagchi’s donation of 230 crore rupees.
