Palliative Care spreads wings to expand its horizon to other medical stream
A pioneering effort by Indian Association of Palliative Care
A national workshop on palliative care – AYUSH integration – iapcayush2019 – as part of a pilot project of the Indian Association of Palliative Care, was held on 25th August 2019 at Helpers of Mary Mother Anna Care Centre, Nagacode, Kulasekharam, Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu. MACC hosted the workshop.
Mr. Mano Thankaraj, MLA, formally inaugurated the workshop.
Dr. Sunil Dhiliwal, Chairman, Scientific Committee, iapcayush2019 introduced the concept before an audience comprising of doctors and students from AYUSH and modern stream of medicine. 200 delegates attended the workshop.
The following experts rendered sessions on their respective disciplines. Dr. Sunil Dhiliwal (Palliataive Care & Ayurveda), Dr. M B Rabindranath (Yoga), Dr. Sugin Herbert (Naturopathy), Dr. Anees Rahman (Unani), Dr. P Sathiya Rajeswaran (Siddha) and Dr. K L Babu (Homoeopathy).
This was followed by an interactive session for documenting the deliberations of the workshop on how to take this project forward. The valedictory function was addressed by Mr. Vasanth Kumar, M.P.
As an immediate follow up, it was decided to hold a two day conference with practising physicians from all disciplines to be held in Chennai in November 2019.
