The Department of Anaesthesia, Pain and Palliative Care at the Cancer Institute (WIA), Adyar, hosted a CME program on October 13, 2023, to celebrate World Hospice and Palliative Care Day. The event was held at Mahaveer Ashray, Sriperumbudur, the Hospice unit of the Cancer Institute with the theme “Caring beyond cure: A Journey through Palliative Care.”
This successful event welcomed approximately 50 participants from a diverse range of healthcare professionals, including oncologists, nurses, social workers, counsellors, and physiotherapists from Government hospitals Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu and Kancheepuram. The CME program featured academic and interactive sessions, networking opportunities, and inspiring stories related to palliative care.
The program aimed to raise awareness, promote collaboration, and encourage a holistic approach to managing cancer patients. The enthusiastic participation of the healthcare professionals exemplified the theme for this year – “Compassionate Communities Together for Palliative Care”.
