Department of Palliative Medicine, and Community Oncology center & Hospice, Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute, Ahmedabad celebrated World Hospice & Palliative Care Day – 2018 on 13 Oct 2018, in Hospice premises.

A “Colostomy Care Workshop” was arranged on the occasion. 50 Colostomy patients with caregivers participated in this workshop. They shared their experiences and views with each other. They underwent check up by Onco-surgeon and Ostomy Care nurses.

A panel discussion was arranged were patients’ questions were addressed by Dr Rajen Tankshali, Onco-Surgeon, Dr Janki Patel, Nutritionist, Dimple Parmar, Cancer Counselor, Dr Geeta Joshi, Palliative Care Physician, and Neelam Dave, Colostomy Nurse. Dr Priti Sanghavi, Prof & Head, Dept of Palliative Medicine, moderated the panel discussion.

Patients were educated about importance of pain management, palliative care, and to live dignified, self-reliant life with colostomy.
