Ms Jayanti and Ms Anjali, have been associated with the Amrit Dhara Palliative Care Center, for the past two years. They are always present for the patients, even when the doctor is unavailable.
Patients and their relatives feel at ease under their care. Their work involves an array of things besides providing direct patient care. They are involved in registrations, managing the OPD along with the doctors, managing day care admissions, conducting home visits for those who reside close to the center, helping in procedures, counseling and providing emotional support to patients and their families, and engaging in regular telephonic follow up.
It is so heartwarming when the relatives of a deceased patient (death at home), calls them immediately to share the news of their loved one’s passing and the details of the cremation. Ms Anjali and Ms Jayanti continue to stay connected with their patients’ families even after the death of their patient.
Ms Anjali and Ms Jayanti also participate in the team’s external awareness generation activities to spread the message of palliative care and its importance by sharing their experiences.
Our Nurse’s are our strength! They are the backbone of Amrit Dhara Palliative Care Trust.
